In the U.S. alone, it's estimated that one in 5 women experience rape or attempted rape at least once in their lifetime. In both male and female victims of rape/ attempted rape, domestic partners accounted for over 50% of the perpetrators. In the U.S. 81% of women and 43% of men will experience some kind of sexual assault/ harassment in their lives. In 2018 alone, nearly three quarters of a million people were raped/ attempted rape in the U.S , with the numbers of additional sexual assault acts bringing that figure even higher (and this is likely a vastly under reported number still, as many perpetrators go unreported/ unpunished). Out of a ten year study on the prevalence of "false reporting" it was found that in the case of sexual assault related matters, 90-98% of reported sexual assaults are TRUE.
On average, in the U.S. alone, 20 people PER MINUTE are physically abused by an intimate partner- which ends up being approximately 10 million people per year; this number doesn't include or even scratch the surface of how many additional acts of abuse are occurring in more insidious forms like emotional, financial, spiritual, mental and sexual abuse and patterns of coercive control.
